ONE suspected illegal immigrant has died while seven others have sustained injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a Road traffic accident in Chirundu District.

The accident happened when the motor vehicle, a Toyota Premio bearing registration number ABL 65, they were traveling in collided with a Toyota Corolla registration number AIC 5066 on March 23, 2023 around 21:30 hours on the Chirundu – Kafue road at Blessings Truck Park in Chirundu District.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said the driver of the Toyota Premio identified as Kalombe Siaumpe 32 escaped after the accident and is currently on the run while the driver of the Toyota Corolla only identified as Jabulani Nzima aged 29 sustained injuries and is admitted to Mtendere Mission Hospital in Chirundu.

Mr Mwale said the accident was reported to Police by members of the community who rushed to the scene immediately it happened.
